The Gorgeous Kitchen

If I finish up at The Gorgeous Kitchen (Heathrow Terminal 2, The Queen’s Terminal) in time, I’ll meet my husband for an early drink. He works on Kingly Street, near Carnaby Street, which is all pedestrianised and I love that everyone spills out into the street.

Favourite spots are The Blue Posts (18 Kingly Street, W1B 5PX, 020 7734 1170) John Snow (39 Broadwick St, W1F 9QJ, 020 7437 1344) The Shaston Arms (4-6 Ganton St, W1F 7QN, 020 7287 2631, shastonarms.co.uk)

All of which are very traditional British pubs with a super friendly atmosphere , and are perfect places to wind down with a drink or two.

From there I’m spoilt for choice. I love Pitt Cue (1 Newburgh St, W1F 7RB, 020 7287 5578, pittcue.co.uk) where their pulled pork sandwiches are to die for, not to mention the crunchy pickles and great drinks menu too.

10 Greek Street

Or we like 10 Greek Street Street (‪10 Greek Street, W1D 4DH, 0207 734 4677, 10greekstreet.com), in Soho. They have a brilliant seasonal menu, that’s small but perfectly put together,  so there’s always plenty to chose from. Both these places have a no-booking policy, which is great for impromptu nights out, but there are times when I prefer knowing I have a table booked.

Ceviche

I’m completely taken with Ceviche (17 Frith Street, Soho, W1D 4RG, 020 7292 2040, cevicheuk.com) This Peruvian restaurant and pisco bar is a real treat when you want a vibrant buzzy atmosphere. They serve small plates, which I love, as they’re a great way of trying lots of different dishes. My favourite is the Don Ceviche with a Pisco Sour on the side.

Other favourites include The Salt Yard (54 Goodge St, W1T 4NA, 020 7637 0657, saltyard.co.uk) where I’ve been eating for more than 10 years and it never lets me down. I adore tapas and The Salt Yard has a fantastic selection of modern ones and impressive charcuterie.

I’ll always make sure I have the courgette flowers stuffed with goats cheese, drizzled with honey, plus the pork belly with rosemary cannellini beans, and always a couple of glasses of crisp dry fino.

Barrafina

If the queue is not too long at Salt Yard, another tapas favourite is Barrafina (54 Frith St, London W1D 4SL, 020 7813 8016, barrafina.co.uk). Sitting at the bar and drinking fino is a lovely way to spend an evening and you can easily feel like you’ve been teleported to Spain.

Other West End choices are Berners Tavern (The London Edition Hotel, 10 Berners St, W1T 3LF, 020 7908 7979, bernerstavern.com) – a lovely place with killer cocktails such as The Cereal Killer and Dill or No Dill.

The Social Eating House (58 Poland St, W1F 7NR, 020 7993 3251, socialeatinghouse.com) is also excellent, with delicious food (padron pepers, lamb with yoghurt and chilli, chorizo hot dog) and cocktails.

Sometimes, if we’ve not booked anywhere, or simply spent too long having after work drinks, we’ll venture out of Soho, and go to Ragam (57 Cleveland St, London W1T 4JN, 020 7636 9098, ragamindian.co.uk). This is a classic example of not judging a book by its cover.

It’s a wonderful, South Indian restaurant that serves a Kerala mutton curry to die for. We then get a cab home, as the bill is never that steep, and we’re  simply too full to walk to the tube.

Berners Tavern

Saturday

After breakfast, I’ll drag myself to the gym for a swim or body combat class.  I spend a great deal of time testing recipes, so Saturday night I’ll invite some friends over for dinner to be my guinea pigs. I live in West London, and Turnham Green, Chiswick, W4 is perfect for getting a good variety of ingredients to experiment with.

Macken Brothers (44 Turnham Green Terrace, W4 1QP, 020 8994 2646, mackenbros.co.uk) is my butchers of choice and I love that they’ll always go that extra mile prepare the meat just as you ask, and with plenty of friendly banter.

Natoora (35 Turnham Green Terrace,W4 1RG, 020 8742 8111, natoora.co.uk) is the place to go for top quality veg, and Hack and Veldt (4 Turnham Green Terrace, Chiswick, London, W4 1QN, 020 8742 0563, hackandveldt.com) is where I’ll head to for a much needed flat white and to stock up on their deli goodies – including some indulgent after-dinner chocolate treats.

Park + Bridge

For wine, there’s a cool, fairly new shop called Park and Bridge (73 Churchfield Road, W3 6AX, 020 8993 0261, parkandbridge.com) which always has something interesting to match the food we’re eating and the staff are very good on advice.

Sunday

This is my day for catching up with the weekend supplements, checking out all the foodie sections, and then I’ll be in the mood for a pub lunch. We’re  pretty spoilt for choice where we are. I love to walk by the river if the weather is good, so The Black Lion (2 S Black Lion Ln, W6 9TJ, 020 8748 2639, theblacklion-hammersmith.co.uk) is a good finishing point.

The Duke of Sussex (75 South Parade, W4 5LF, 020 8742 8801, thedukeofsussex.co.uk) is another favourite, it has tapas-style food and some lovely finos – so you’ll often find me in there enjoying a glass or two.
