Friday

When I’m lucky enough to have Friday night off, I head to a few of my favourite bars. I’ll often start at Sager + Wilde (193 Hackney Road, London E2 8JL, 0208 127 7330, sagerandwilde.com), for a glass of white, before heading to White Lyan (153 -155 Hoxton Street, N1 6PJ, 0203 022 2253, whitelyan.com), where The Monkey Ball is a real favourite. Then on to Hawksmoor Bar (157b Commercial Road, London E1 6BJ, 0207 426 4856, thehawksmoor.com) to try the cocktail which uses Moonshine Kid gin. And I’ll round off the night off with a Jerezana at Happiness Forgets (8-9 Hoxton Square, London N1 6NU, happinessforgets.com).

Saturday

For brunch on Saturday I love Clutch Chickens (4 Ravenscroft, London E2 7QG, 0207 729 4402, clutchchicken.com), the wishbone waffles are outstanding. After brunch it’s up to the tap room at Beaverton Brewery at Dukes Brew & Que, (33 Downham Road, Hackney N1 5AA, beavertownbrewery.co.uk). These guys easily make my favourite beer, the Gamma Ray American Pale Ale, and their tap room is great. I love the new Pizza Pilgrims on Kingly Street (11 Kingly Street, W1B 5PW, 0207 287 2200, pizzapilgrims.co.uk), these guys seriously know good pizza. Saturday night was back at Peg + Patriot (Town Hall Hotel, Patriot Square, London E2 9NF, 020 8 7094528, pegandpatriot.com), and on the rotary evaporator distilling Maltesers for the Malty Python cocktail.

Sunday

Juice Well

This is a day of relaxation with my wife. We sometimes go to Foot Patrol (80 Berwick Street, Soho W1F 8TU, footpatrol.co.uk) to check out their awesome range of New Balance kicks, then grab a few days’ worth of juices from Juice Well (4 Peter Street, London W1F 0DN, 0207 439 9399, thejuicewell.hk), including my favourite pineapple, mint and aniseed juice. We check out the street food markets on Regent’s Street before doing groceries at Whole Foods (20 Glasshouse Street, London W1B 5AR, wholefoodsmarket.com) to make dinner.

Matt Whiley is the man behind Bethnal Green’s Peg + Patriot. He is also the creator of Moonshine Kid with a gin called Dog’s Nose.
