If you’re looking to immerse yourself in Barcelona’s edgy, backstreet cultural scene while still hanging on to your creature comforts, then Barcelo Raval is the hotel for you. Situated right in the heart of El Raval, the city’s trendiest barrio, but still within a couple of minutes walk of Las Ramblas, the hotel offers the perfect combination of stylish living combined with high-design, panoramic views over the city and neighbouring cafes, art galleries and bars.

The sophisticated design concept of this avant-garde hotel focuses on open spaces and minimalism – whether it’s in the shape of pleasing egg-shaped chairs, sleek curved furnishings or plate glass and mirrored finishings. While the open-plan bedrooms offer little in the way of privacy (not ideal if you aren't staying with your significant other) the floor-to-ceiling windows – which offer stunning views across the city – and the king-size beds, 32” flat-screen TVs, iPod loaders and Nespresso coffee makers more than make up for this minor inconvenience.

Downstairs, you’ll find a mix of style-conscious business types and late 20-somethings buzzing around the B-lounge and terrace, while the fitness centre is quiet and offers the health-conscious access to top of the range exercise equipment, a sauna and an aromatherapy shower. All in all then, a great choice for an affordably stylish city break in one of Europe's hippest cities.
What’s hot?

- The 11th floor roof terrace with its panoramic views over Barcelona

- The location – right in the heart of El Raval
- The decor – stylish and very unchain-like
 What’s not?
 - Busy reception area
 - No table service at breakfast which can get extremely busy (and a little chaotic)
