If romance is on the cards and you’re looking for a place to really get away from it all in Cornwall, then you don’t need to look much further than Beachspoke’s Black Moon. This boutique bolthole is completely unique, and such a find that it's incredibly tempting to guard it jealously as your own little secret. Black Moon has only couples in mind and has considered every little detail of what makes the perfect intimate break, from the candles and massage oils dotted around the apartment, right down to the 'love grotto' downstairs.
The ‘love grotto’ can be reached down wooden steps that lead off the main front room to an original stone smuggler’s cave below the building. It’s kitted out with fur throws, heating and incense burners. If that’s a little bit on the gloomy side, then upstairs the lounge has floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open out onto sea views that stretch from St Ives Bay to Gwithian Lighthouse. In fact, no matter where you are at Black Moon, whether you're lounging about on the stylish white modular sofas watching the wide-screen TV, or lying on the cotton sheets (Egyptian, of course) of the king-size bed, you can always see and hear the ocean.
Almost stealing the show away from the sea are the impeccably designed interiors. Done out in a quirky Far-Eastern style with a bit of a modern twist, baroque mirrors and Indian carved furnishings mix with enormous baths for two, slate under-floor heating and an intelligent lighting system. You can watch the sun rise and set from your own private balcony and with the high tide crashing against the side of the house, feel like you're on your own castaway island. All in all it adds up to the perfect beach-side getaway.
