With its luxurious doors having only swung open a couple of years ago, Blythswood Square has already managed to tuck a fair few awards and accolades under its belt and cement its place as Glasgow’s spa destination of choice. Right from the start, the décor and all-round feel of the place shout pure decadence, with grand Regency exteriors opening onto a white pillared reception with crushed red velvet banquettes.
When you sweep down the marble staircase to the candlelit spa, it’s clear that it's a place where pampering comes very high on the agenda. Covering an impressive 10,000 square feet of sheer luxury, the spa includes a thermal experience with an enormous walk-in Jacuzzi, hydro pool, crystal steam room, sauna and vitality pool. Then, to take the indulgence up a notch or two, there’s a laconium (which is cooler than a steam room), an aromatherapy saunarium (a mix of a sauna and steam room) and a tepidarium with heated stone loungers to unwind on. And that’s all before you set foot in one of the nine treatment rooms, which offer everything from rebalancing your chakras to the rainforest renewal facials and full detoxifying body wraps. Plus, to cap it all off, there’s a 12-metre vitality pool with massage jets.
However, it’s not all about the spa at Blythswood Square. There’s also a pretty impressive restaurant to contend with, too, which serves up exquisitely prepared modern European dishes in a wonderfully grand, high ceilinged ballroom. Alternatively, you could just go for the ‘TV dinner’ option and enjoy some fine dining from the comfort of your sumptuous suite, before carrying on the relaxation in the black marble bathrooms (which come complete with full-size Anne Semonin products). You can almost feel the weight lift from your mind just thinking about it...
