Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes is nothing short of an institution, it was Ibiza’s very first rural hotel, Freddie Mercury had his infamous 40th birthday party there; Naomi Campbell graced its poolside and Wham! filmed their Club Tropicana video here. Needless to say, Pikes Hotel is a roll call of glittery hedonists, and the owner Tony Pikes was there to see it all. His face now decorates the walls of the reception, the bedspreads in each of the bedrooms and the sun loungers around the pool, where he can often be found regaling his stories to a rapt audience.
Since party brand Ibiza Rocks took over the hotel two years ago, it’s seen a revamp of interiors (and standards) and now guests can enjoy decent WiFi and cockroach-free showers, whilst still retaining the rose-tinted hedonistic party atmosphere of the original institution. Each of the rooms are individually designed with different artwork and furnishings, but all have enormous beds, cool whitewashed walls and flagstone floors.
The hotel is settled into the site of a 500-year-old finca and is personalised with quirky details such as giant mushroom seats and a hot pink tennis court that may make it difficult to keep your eye on the ball but it sure looks like a fun place to play.
