Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, women's rights advocate and accessories icon, has just given some insight into her years-long love affair with scrunchies.
To give some context, back in 1993, Ginsburg took her oath to become a Supreme Court Justice wearing a blue scrunchie:
And that same year, she wore one for her Senate confirmation hearing:
'I have been wearing scrunchies for years,' she recently told the Wall Street Journal. 'My best scrunchies come from Zurich. Next best, London, and third best, Rome.' Yes, while some of us have trouble even locating a hair tie on a good day, leave it to RBG to have an extra-classy international scrunchie collection.
She goes on to admit that, while her scrunchie collection isn't as large as her collar and glove collection, the hair ties are catching up. It makes sense since Ginsburg is well aware that a scrunchie can work for all occasions. Whether it's attending a judicial oath ceremony...
Speaking on a panel...
Officiating a wedding...
Snoozing during one of Obama's State of the Union addresses...
Or hugging the former president...
...there's power in a great accessory, especially when it comes from Zurich.
