Since its early beginnings, the ELLE Style Awards has been renowned in the industry for its awe-inspiring glamour, dancing at after-parties until the early hours of the morning, as well as stirring speeches and political prose from winners. This year marked the awards' comeback following a six-year hiatus, and it certainly didn't disappoint.
Last night, celebrities, actors, musicians, designers, and more gathered at the Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell, London, donning their finest red carpet looks, created by some of the most household names in the fashion industry – several of which were in attendance at the event. From Florence Pugh’s striking all-white Alexander McQueen lace dress, to Yasmin Finney’s super cinched red Dilara Findikoglu maxi dress, the margin for error was zero across the night.
As the Awards ceremony commenced, guests drank Moët & Chandon (the event’s champagne partner) as they listened to an eclectic array of speeches from the brightest stars. Pugh, who received the British Icon award, gave a heartfelt speech on vulnerability, while rapper Stormzy emphasised the criticality for diversity in publishing, while still bringing forth his charismatic persona which left the guests in tears of laughter.
Billie Piper and Gemma Chan were the ultimate #BFFgoals as the former awarded Chan with the Changemaker Award, while singer Tems and designer Feben gave stirring speeches about their respective journeys to get them where they are today.
Of course, the night didn't end on the stage, as guests headed into an after-party filled with iridescent lights, an exclusive augmented reality experience and lens (courtesy of the event's technology partner Snapchat), late-hour dancing and, as can be expected, more champagne. We said it was a night of glamour, remember?
