ELLE Style Awards: All Of The Best Moments From The Celebrations

Designer Ozwald Boateng wore a purple and black suit with a geometric print and white trainers. He attended the event with his daughter Emilia, who wore a sparkling pastel-coloured dress Clio Peppiatt. As well as the ELLE Style Awards, the pair had another reason to celebrate. ‘It’s a special day because [Emilia] graduated,’ said Boateng. When asked what her father has taught her about fashion, Emilia said: ‘Details matter: how you’re wearing your trousers and the way the buttons are sitting.’

ELLE UK Editor-in-Chief Kenya Hunt wore a black cut-out dress by Alexander McQueen for the occasion, styled with Tiffany & Co. jewellery. Speaking about the ELLE Style Awards covers, she said: ‘It really is a labour of love. With each one, it really didn’t feel like there was a question about it.’ Hunt said she was most excited about seeing everything come together on the night: ‘The entire team have put in so much work – thousands of calls and emails,’ she noted.

British actor Florence Pugh wowed the red carpet in a sheer white bridal-style dress by Alexander McQueen. The Oppenheimer star was being celebrated with the British Icon award at the event. Pugh is known for her showstopping looks – she made headlines for wearing a sheer magenta Valentino dress to the brand’s AW22 couture show in Rome last July, as well as as a translucent pale-blue dress by the same designer at this year's Paris Fashion Week.

The Oxford-born star gave a rousing speech when she received the award for British Icon from friend and designer Harris Reed, saying:

'I am loud, I am vulnerable, I am opinionated. I am right but also wrong. I am unbelievably stubbornI am weak, I am headstrongI don’t care what people think of me but i also care what people think of meI’ve done a lot of growing this yearI love to youI am protective, and i will always be protective of those who look up to meThank you to you and my supporters, I couldn’t have received this award without you all.'

The British actor Billie Piper gave a heartfelt speech when awarding her close friend Gemma Chan the Changemaker Award. 'In our friendship crew she is mum, but she is far from boring', Piper stated after listing Chan's many accolades, which include being a grade A pianist, an Oxford law graduate and a swimmer. When accepting the award, Chan's response was as equally moving: 'I've looked up to you since before we knew each other, I'm really grateful to call you a friend.'

When it comes to listing the best dressed men, Ncuti Gatwa is an obvious mention, but the Sex Education and Barbie actor revealed to red carpet presenter, Yomi Adegoke, that he wasn't always this fashionable. 'Oh you don't wake up like this, it's only Beyoncé!,' he noted, dressed in an Ozwald Boateng look and Tiffany & Co. jewellery.

'I wore a tartan suit to an event one time and I thought in my head it was giving, but it was not giving anything. When I used to dye my moustache blonde, people used to tell me that it looked like I drank milk and hadn't wiped my mouth!'

The 33-year-old Ethiopian designer and Central Saint Martins graduate accepted the Breakthrough Designer award by giving ELLE Style Award attendees an insight into her upbringing. Feben told the guests of how she came to the UK 14 years ago with only £70, a sewing machine and needles in her suitcase. She described her life as a journey thus far, and ended her speech by encouraging those with a dream to never give up.
