After the Queen's sad passing at the age of 96, details were subsequently announced by the Palace about Her Majesty's state funeral (which was attended by thousands) and the subsequent private burial, which in contrast saw only the Royal Family and Her Majesty's closest inner circle pay their respects.
Now, many members of the public are wondering if it will be possible to go and see the Queen's grave themselves? And if so, where is the Queen's grave located and will it be free to visit?
Where is Queen Elizabeth II's grave?
Queen Elizabeth II is buried at the King George VI Memorial Chapel, which is part of St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. Her Majesty was laid to rest alongside her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and the late Queen Mother. The Queen's sister, Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, is also buried in the same site.
The remains of many other notable monarchs throughout history, including Henry VIII, Charles I, George III, Edward VII and George V, are also in the chapel. It is expected that one day, later down the line, King Charles III will also be buried there alongside his relatives.
Can the public visit Queen Elizabeth II's grave?
Yes, it is possible for members of the public to visit the King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor Castle, however visitors are reminded that the chapel is also local church for the nearby community too. It's also unclear how close the general public will be able to get to the Queen's final resting place, which is tucked into one side of the chapel.
Three services a day are carried out at the worship site, which can fit 800 people inside, and for anybody who would like to join the worship, it is free to attend. Visitors are also welcome when they purchase a ticket to visit Windsor Castle as a whole.
General adult tickets (for those aged 25 and over) start from £28.50, a young person's ticket begins at £17.50, children aged 5 to 17 can get a ticket from £14.50 and children under five are able to go free. Prices vary depending on the day.
Currently, the chapel is closed due to the mourning period - which is set to officially end at 00:00 on 20 September (the day after the Queen's funeral).
