A wardrobe malfunction is less than ideal when accepting any award, not least of all at the Oscars, but you could trust Emma Stone to remind us of the important things in life - family - when accepting her Best Actress trophy.

Stone won the award for her leading role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things. On getting up from her seat to walk to the stage, her dress snapped much to her shock. 'My dress has broken, I think it happened during I’m Just Ken,' she said, jokingly, as she accepted her Oscars award, the second time she's won the Best Actress tribute.

'This is really overwhelming, my voice is also gone. The women on the stage, you are all incredible and the women in this category, I share this with you. I’m in awe of you,' she said. 'It’s been such an honour to do all of this with you.'

Stone dedicated her award to the women also nominated for Best Actress, which included Lily Gladstone for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon, Carey Mulligan for Maestro and Sandra Hüller for Anatomy of a Fall.

On accepting her award, she reminisced on how she'd been told by director of Poor Things, Yorgos Lanthimos, to take herself out of it. She went on to say it wasn't about her, but about 'a team that came together to make something better than the sum of its parts. 'Yorgos, thank you for the gift of a lifetime in Bella Baxter', she said.

Sharing the award with her cast and crew members, she also payed tribute to her family – her mum, dad, brother, husband and her daughter. 'Most importantly, [I want to thank] my daughter, who's going to be three in three days and has turned our lives technicolour. I love you bigger than the whole sky,' she concluded.
