We're sure you've all heard of plus-size models, plus-size clothes and the odd plus-size burger patty combo at your favourite fast-food chain, but we have a feeling you've probably never come across plus-size jewellery.

That's exactly what fashion brand Universal Standard is now offering customers who want to find jewellery to suit their more curvaceous frames.

The new capsule collection of jewellery from direct-to-consumer clothing brand Universal Standard – which sells clothes in US sizes 10-28 – came about after co-founder and CCO Alexandra Waldman found she regularly struggled to find pieces that complimented her size.

'I know from personal experience that finding beautiful modern pieces of jewellery that fit and look native to my body type is nearly impossible,' she told Glamour.

'Even longer necklaces don't fall in the right spot on the front of the body—everything tends to look clipped, cheap, or semi-disposable,' she added.

'I'm a grown woman—I don't want to wear an adjustable ring that I have to squeeze together around my finger,' she noted.

With a minimalist aesthetic, the collection is mostly platinum, with the aim to provide consumers with 'luxury-looking pieces that would fit beautifully with Universal Standard clothing and with your pre-existing wardrobe'.

Waldman explained: 'They are uncomplicated, but full of subtle drama, if that's not too much of a contradiction.'

Fortunately, the pieces come in at a relatively realistic price point and are capped at around £54 ($70).

'We set out to make beautiful, affordable pieces for women who have gone without them for far too long.

'We don't try to be everything to everyone—that's not possible. We stay true to our aesthetic and quality principles. That's really how this capsule came about… We thought these kinds of pieces needed to be available,' she added.

Er, you can say that again.

'Jewellery is just the beginning. We want women above size 10 to feel like they have options, like things are getting better all the time. That's our reason for being,' Waldman added.

No matter what your size, everyone should have better access and choice to fashion. Period.
