Miley Cyrus just took to the stage of the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards looking straight out of a scene in Grease. Cyrus chose a '50s-inspired theme when she performed her new song "Younger Now," and kept things bright and positive, despite rumors of conflict during the making of her performance.

There had reportedly been behind-the-scenes drama about Cyrus's performance. Cyrus, who has made headlines for past VMA scandals (like the time she twerked on Robin Thicke), was reportedly considering going a more controversial route. According to gossip column Page Six, Cyrus's creative director Diane Martel suggested a raunchy puppet show—a nod to the "Younger Now" music video released earlier this month. It was Cyrus's manager, Adam Leber, who suggested she use the time to make a political statement about President Donald Trump.

But going along with her new more laid back image, Cyrus kept the performance politics-free, focusing on the music and the fans at this year's VMAs.

Check out her full performance below.
