With just a matter of months before Britain’s largest festival, Glastonbury, takes Worthy Farm by storm once again, excitement has reached fever pitch with the release of the festival's 2024 line-up.

The annual festival, which kicks off on Wednesday June 26 2024 and runs until Sunday June 30 2024, is a highlight of the British summer calendar and this year will welcome Dua Lipa, Coldplay and Shania Twain to the Pyramid stage. LCD Soundsystem, Little Simz and Keane will also take to the stage, with The National, Two Door Cinema Club and Bloc Party among the acts set to perform on the Other stage.

The release of this year's line-up comes after the festival's co-organiser, Emily Eavis, gave the biggest hint yet as to who the headliners of it could be.

Speaking to Nick Grimshaw and Annie Macmanus on their Sidetracked with Annie and Nick podcast, Eavis said: '2024 is still a little up in the air.

'And I thought it was kind of taking shape and then last week I just got a call, and this is what happens if you wait a little longer, because quite often we’ll be booked up from July. This year we’re holding out for a little bit longer and last week I got a call from a really big American artist saying this person’s around next year, and I was like, "Oh my God, this is incredible." Thank God we held the slot.'

Speaking in regards to last year's all-male line-up, Eavis confirmed that the festival did have a female headliner confirmed but that she pulled out at the last minute. 'Everyone who knows, knows that it’s top of my list. I’m always trying to make it the most balanced, diverse bill,' Eavis said.

For the first time last year, Glastonbury implemented eco-conscious rules on festival-goers. Organisers added disposable vapes to their list of items not to bring, which also included knives, gazebos and non-biodegradable body glitter. Of disposable vapes, the Glastonbury website instructed attendees to 'not bring disposable vapes', following the festival's 'reduce, reuse, recycle' policy. 'They pollute the environment and can be hazardous at waste centres.'

Recent estimates nod to the fact that approximately 1.3 million single-use vapes are thrown away each week in the UK, with their shell materials largely comprised of non-biodegradable materials.

Elsewhere on Worthy Farm, which welcomed Elton John, Lizzo and Lewis Capaldi among others to its stages last year, Octopus Energy debuted its first temporary wind turbine, which provided clean power to food vendors.

That’s not the only renewable energy-focused measure that was implemented by organisers of last year’s event, which has increasingly endeavoured to provide eco-conscious energy solutions in recent years. Arcadia, the festival’s dance stage on which The Chemical Brothers made their debut last year, ran exclusively on renewable energy. The renewable fuel was provided by recycled cooking oil and chip fat.

Glastonbury is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world. It returned last year after the pandemic led to its cancellation in both 2020 and 2021.
