To round off the week during which his wife admitted editing a photograph of their family, and was widely ridiculed for doing so, Prince William concluded the week's hysteria by poking fun at his wife's 'arty' skills.

While visiting a youth group in Shepherd's Bush, Prince William made a self-deprecating joke as he decorated biscuits by saying, 'My wife's the arty one.'

The joke comes after Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, admitted editing a photograph of her and their three children, which was released in honour of Mother's Day on Sunday. Much has been made of her admission, which she shared on hers and Prince William's X account. ‘Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,’ she wrote. ‘I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.’

Before her statement was released, AP issued a 'kill notice' to photographic agencies, warning them that the image had been 'manipulated.'

‘At closer inspection it appears that the source has manipulated the image,’ AP said in a notice to customers. ‘Clients please be advised that the following story has been killed and should no longer be used’.

Buckingham Palace remained silent as Getty, Associated Press, Reuters and AFP quietly removed the image and advised clients to remove it from all their platforms. The image has, however, remained on the family's public Instagram account.

Kate's admission of fault also comes amid a week of other royal-related headlines pertaining to the family. Meghan Markle has debuted her latest endeavour, a lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard, which will focus on home, garden, food, and general lifestyle content and will eventually branch into selling a variety of home goods, such as cookbooks, foods, and kitchenware.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Prince Harry further fanned the rumours of a rift between them as they separately attended The Diana Legacy Awards last night, which awards young leaders from all over the world who inspire their communities. The annual event is held in honour of their late mother, the former Princess of Wales, Princess Diana. During his speech, Prince William praised his wife. 'That legacy is something that both Catherine and I have sought to focus on through our work, as have the 50,000 young people who have received a Diana Award over the past 25 years,' he said.

Once Prince William's speech concluded, Prince Harry virtually joined the event to meet with the winners.
