Months after the birth of his first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, Prince Harry is celebrating his first father's day in his new parental role.

The Duke of Sussex welcomed his and wife Meghan Markle's infant into the world in May, and appears to have taken to the role like a duck to water.

To commemorate the occasion the 34-year-old posted a snap of his one-month-old babe and himself on the Sussex's Instagram page.

The post read ‘Happy Father’s Day! And wishing a very special first Father’s Day to the Duke of Sussex.’

A week after Archie was born, the Duchess was able to celebrate international Mother's Day herself.

The 37-year-old new mum marked the occasion with a previously-unseen snap of little Archie's toes.

Former Suits star Markle captioned the post:

'Paying tribute to all mothers today - past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered.

We honour and celebrate each and every one of you.

Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe.

This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex.

Quote from 'lands':
my
mother
was
my first country;
the first place i ever lived.'

The verse was originally penned by poet Nayyirah Waheed. An un assuming U.S.-based artist, she has self-identified as the 'quiet poet', but her work has been celebrated for its powerful look at race, identity and love. Waheed's work has been described as: 'painful and poignant, raging and gentle.'
