At the tender age of 5, a week didn't go by without the religious watching of Spice World on a Friday night with my best friend Bex, writing down the most basic of thoughts in my Spice Girls 1997 diary and trying to perfect my Sporty Spice high kick in front of my bedroom mirror.

In the Nineties, the Spice Girls were more than a girl band. They were icons of change in a male dominated pop chart, who championed diversity, female empowerment and never feared to take down the patriarchy at every given moment.

And so it's hardly surprising to see the girl troop putting their famous slogan 'girl power' into practice in newly discovered behind-the-scenes footage.

The new clip shows the girls slamming a male crew member for his sexist comments about the women's attire.

In a video, originally posted by director Mackenzie Rough in May, Mel B can be heard asking the crew member: 'Why did you ask that? To have our cleavage showing and our midriff showing' pointing at the band's school uniforms for the music video.

'It's every male's fantasy,' the man replied before 'Scary Spice' tells him to 'f*ck off'.

Hearing the commotion, Victoria Beckham can be seen taking the man's sunglasses off his head saying, 'It's not sunny, stop trying to look cool', before attempting to sell them off for a pound while Geri Halliwell chastises the man for his offensive comment.

'You chauvinistic pig. That's such an easy cop out.'

'At your age, you should know better by now. You're in advertising,' she adds, as the man's friend tries to defend his actions.

The camera man then suggests the women 'spank' the sexist crew member, much to Victoria and Geri's frustration.

At the end of the video, Mel B turns round to the crew to sarcastically congratulate the crew member who tried to reduce the girl group to mere eye candy.

'And we especially thank you, because he's the one who said can you show a bit of cleavage and midriff. And we said no, girl power!'

Er, you messed with the wrong women, pal.
