To add to the arsenal of inane insults that women who have had, or want, abortions (or will in the future) receive, the Republican state representative of Alaska, David Eastman, has thrown 'sponger' in the mix.

Yep, this new statement might even top the recent notion than pregnant women are merely 'hosts' who need permission from the father to abort their foetus in the offensive scale.

Eastman told the Associated Press,

We have folks who try to get pregnant in this state so that they can get a free trip to the city, and we have folks who want to carry their baby past the point of being able to have an abortion in this state so that they can have a free trip to Seattle.

What Eastman is 'referring' to (if we can try and untangle this web of insanity), is that in Alaska, Medicaid can fund women's travel to Anchorage or Seattle (the latter if a woman is in her second trimester) to obtain an abortion.

Let's just go through the logic here, someone is going to go through the difficulty, pain and trauma of conceiving and aborting a foetus for a day trip.

Nobody wants to go to Seattle that much.

To add insult to this farcical injury, Eastman injected this, quite frankly, bonkers and deeply harmful rhetoric, into a resolution in the Alaska House aimed at raising awareness about sexual assault and child abuse.

Which is nothing to do with abortion.

How did he segue into women-bashing? Oh, he said abortion is, 'the ultimate form of child abuse.'

Doesn't he seem like a treat?

Twitter certainly likes him:
