Making his name on the best Australian export of all time (apart from Muriel's Wedding, obviously) Neighbours, Hemsworth keeps a strong link to his homeland through family and charity work, despite living stateside with Cyrus.
Proving he has far from lost his roots, Hemsworth took to Instagram to comment on the upcoming vote on same-sex marriage in Australia.
He expressed via social media that he thought marriage equality shouldn't even be up for debate, since it is a basic right for people to be able to love equally, no matter what. He then urged his followers to vote for marriage equality.
He said:
I personally do not believe that same sex marriage should come down to a vote. I believe it's a HUMAN RIGHT to be able to marry the person you love regardless of gender. To all the Australians that care about equality and human rights please say YES to same sex marriage. Let's not be silly about this. Vote YES for same sex marriage in Australia.
The non-binding vote will be used by the parliament to inform them on how Australians as a country stand on same-sex marriage before they move to make any legal laws.
The more overwhelming the support for marriage equality, the more likely a law will be passed. So let's hope the people of Australia listen to the younger Hemsworth brother and get behind marriage equality.
