We asked Hattie for her tips in choosing The Ring, and here they are:

1. What do you think are the most important things to consider whenlooking for an engagement ring?

1) Your girlfriend – what does she like, what does she wear, what’s her style.

2) The designer. Finding a designer whom you feel you can trust. Someone who will adapt their design skills to meet your requirements and provide you with the best quality of materials

3) Logistics – what’s your time frame and budget

2. What sort of personalisation do you love including in your engagement rings?

Having personal face to face meetings with the client each step of the way allows us to extract minute details about the wearer and translate it into the ring. I love asking the subtler questions that give me a good picture of who the ring is for – it’s the tiny details that can give the most away about someone’s personality. If it’s being commissioned as a surprise prior to the proposal then I like ensuring that the ring really reflects how the boy sees the girl.

3. You work with Fairtrade Fairmined gold, why do people ask for this?
The leading goal at HRJ is to design striking and refined jewellery. The fact that we can achieve this high level of design as well as knowing that the piece has been produced responsibly, is a real bonus. Today, clients require more than just a ring. They want ethical certification, a knowledge of origin as well as a one hundred percent traceable supply chain. As soon as clients learn of this certification they want it!
To note; Fairtrade and Fairmined gold is mined without using any chemicals under stringent social and environmental criteria, independently audited and the miners receive a premium on the price. The premium enables them to invest into community projects, help educate their children, empowering themselves and better their working conditions.
