After a long and exhaustive hunt, I’ve found our wedding videographer - and I had to extend the search to California to find her. I’m all too conscious that this is ridiculously over the top but hear me out...

I searched high and low in the UK I really did. But everyone I found was crazy expensive and most looked as if they did this for a living because they couldn’t get camera work elsewhere; jolty footage, inconsistent sound, bad lighting and not a worthy conclusion to all the hard work you’ve put in.

Most people go down the route of getting a friend to film their wedding and I'm lucky enough to have some great contacts who could do it very well, but is there any real incentive for them to concentrate on the job in hand rather than the free bar and the lady with the large cleavage? You can’t eat, drink, be merry and shoot the video.

The Americans have got it sussed. Unlike us Brits who tend to produce unimaginative films (on the wedding circuit that is!), across the pond your wedding video is cut and edited in Hollywood short film glory. Yes it's self-indulgent, but isn't the whole day?

I found Jessica Ringor's company LoveSpun Films while scrolling through US wedding blog Style Me Pretty (source of many an inspiration). She's based in Sacramento but as luck would have it is in the UK over my wedding. Yippee!

Despite her glossy final results, she tries hard to blend in to the background and catch the mood of the day from afar, bar 15 minutes alone with the bride and groom should you wish.

Take a look at some of her recent videos to get a feel for what she does. And if you know any good UK videographers, do share!
