Finally the ring has arrived! We got engaged on June 19th and from there commissioned my good friend and favourite Jewellery designer Polly Wales to make my engagement ring. It’s called the Atrium ring and I absolutely love it!
We did shop around elsewhere first just to be sure that we wanted Polly to make the engagement ring. My expectation of the process involved romantic moments, wistfully gazing at beautiful antique or art deco style rings. And all hassle free, of course.
We went to Hatton Garden and discovered a very different reality. If you even glance at a window display, staff will come out and entice you to come in. We entered a room with various traders all shouting to grab our attention with their rocks and style choices, anything to get our money. It was horrible.
The verdict is that it for me, the ring needed to be special, a family heirloom or personal connection that meant it was made by someone who we knew would put their good energy into it. Especially since I’ll be wearing it for life.
