The table plan is the one part of planning a wedding that is pretty much destined to cause nuclear meltdown. At least in my family it is.

So I’m taking precautions and arming myself with the one weapon that parents have little defence against: computer know-how.

I’ve discovered downloadable table-planning software at www.toptableplanner.com and it’s genius. For just £10 you can download a user-friendly tool that will allow you to play wedding musical chairs on your desktop. Import all of the names of your guests from a spreadsheet, colour code them male and female, add in their meal preferences and then get dragging and dropping.

It’s so easy an 11 year old could do it.

But – hopefully – not a 58 year old.
