It's not often that we get to say 'Hold the press' in the beauty industry, but Fendi's turquoise transformation of Gigi, Bella and Kendall's hair is an official 'Hold the press' worthy moment.
Yup, channelling 2017's obsession with mermaid hair, Fendi employed the talents of hair legend Sam McKnight to transform Gigi and co.'s blonde and brunette 'dos into seriously blunt sci-fi blue side fringes.
A sharp side parted ponytail topped with McKnight's turquoise and blue 'petrol bangs' completed the somewhat erratic contrast of muted 70s stripes, 40s tea dresses and utilitarian futurism present throughout the whole collection.
Add to that graphic black eyeliner and you've got a whole lot of references that against the odds manage to look epic.
'I wanted to use a piece of hair that's almost like a little hat', said McKnight, 'We were looking at the 40s influences and we decided it needed a headdress and also a more masculine look that wasn't too girly. We dyed a load of hair pieces to give a sharp side parting, almost like an English school boy undercut meets Twiggy but in tones of blues and greens.'
Taking her place beside Kendall, Bella and Gigi in Fendi's high fashion mermaid army was runway newcomer and modelling royalty Kaia Gerber ,who took a cheeky backstage selfie with her new 'do, and model Stella Lucia Deopito who swapped her now iconic 'angry pink' hair from Alexander Wang's SS18 show for a muted blue 'wave'.
