Venus Williams, AKA one of the top female tennis players in the world, probably had a lot more important things on her mind as she stepped onto the court at Wimbledon on Monday.

Was what colour bra she was wearing one of those?Probably not. But her choice of undergarment (a hot pink number, FYI) gained rather a lot of unwarranted attention this week.

Wimbledon enforces a strict 'all white' rule when it comes to clothing, so when her colourful bra strap kept creeping out underneath her all-white outfit it was seen as a violation.

Needless to say, officials did not think it was ace.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club rules clearly state, 'any undergarments that either are or can be visible during play (including due to perspiration) must also be completely white except for a single trim of colour no wider than one centimetre (10mm).'

Um, seriously?

It seems the tennis pro was even made to change, as she reappeared from a break sans hot pink bra. This made us all kinds of sad as the William's sister vibrant style is largely responsible for our interest in tennis.

So, while Venus is being forced to stick to the OTT strict all-white rule, let's take a little look back at a few of the times the tennis pro has slayed flamboyant sport style.

US Open, 2000

Over the years Venus has championed the little yellow dress. In fact, she simply loves a dash of yellow, which makes her look like a ray of sunshine.

From sporty Reebok numbers to sizzling cut-out tops, she never fails to brighten up a match.

Williams Sisters Tour, 2004

Can we just take a minute to appreciate this little power pink number way back from the depths of 2004. Baby Spice eat your heart out.

US Open, 2010

Now, Venus can do demure black and white numbers (a la Wimbledon) but where's the fun in that? We much prefer this full on firework diamanté number.

French Open, 2016

As Venus has grown-up, so has her style. And she is not only the winner of countless tennis titles, but also of printed mini dresses, complete with a matching visors. Bravo.

So, this whole bra strap debacle is quite simply stupid. Because guys, if MP's no longer have to wear ties in the House of Commons, then why can a girl not wear whatever bra she bloody well wants?
