Paris Jackson, the 18-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson, is ready for the spotlight.

Fox TV has said the teenager will make her acting debut in Star later this series, Deadline reports.

Jackson is set to play a 'young, super-chic, stylish and intimidating social media guru' called Rachel in the musical drama, which comes from Empire creator Lee Daniels.

She will join Queen Latifah in the show, who plays the role of a surrogate mother to three young singers Star, Simone and Alexandra on their journey to success. Grammy Award winner Lenny Kravitz has also been named as a guest star.

The TV network has not confirmed an airdate for Jackson's episode, saying it will be 'later this season', but the announcement has been well-timed with the growing buzz surrounding the up-and-coming actress and model.

After she gave her first in-depth interview with Rolling Stone magazine's February issue – in which she revealed she feared for Justin Bieber's career and believed that her father was murdered – Jackson was welcomed onto the front row at Paris Couture Week earlier this month.

In January, it was also thought Jackson had landed her first major fashion job. She was photographed modelling in Paris on a Madonna-inspired shoot, which was reportedly for a future Chanel campaign.
