Remember the excitement you'd get at sending a painting into children's television show, Blue Peter, only to receive the iconic white, sailing ship emblazoned badge in the post so you could nip down to your local aquarium or zoo, for free? Not to mention Lego Land!

Well, imagine that jubilation and times it by a billion because that's how a self-proclaimed photographer and history buff from Leeds now feels having just received a very important gift from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Yesterday, amateur photographer Paul Ratcliffe posted a photograph of a letter he received from Kensington Palace, thanking him for a card he'd sent to the royals for their sixth wedding anniversary.

The letter – which he has taken a photograph of, along with a personal image of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during their trip to Bhutan last year – reads: 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are most grateful to your for the message you so kindly took the trouble to send on the occasion of their 6th Wedding Anniversary.

'It really was most thoughtful of you and Their Royal Highnesses send you their warmest thanks and best wishes,' it concluded.

On Monday, the couple – who are currently seeking damages from France's Closer magazine – took to Instagram to thank the public for wishing them well on their anniversary, with a wedding photo and caption that read: 'Thank you so much for all the lovely messages wishing The Duke and Duchess a happy sixth wedding anniversary.'

So, basically, what we're thinking is that if you send a 'new home' card to Kate and Wills when they permanently move to London later this year, you're sure to get a 'thank you' card back, right?
