If it's not the fact Prince William and Kate Middleton sit down on the sofa most nights to catch up on Game of Thrones and Homeland that makes us feel like they might be quite like us after all, then it's the royals' love for a takeaway curry – picked up by their staff, of course – and the image of Wills kicking it back in a tracksuit, checking up on Football Manager on his iPhone while Kate gives herself a manicure while watching Love Island.

And in the endless list of secrets we love to learn about the Monarchy, we're surprised to find out that we had no knowledge of Kate's odd moniker at school.

Of course, while the world might call the Duchess of Cambridge by the nickname 'Kate', her birth name is, in fact, Catherine.

However, during a trip to her old school St Andrews, in Pangbourne, Berkshire, in 2012, the 35-year-old mother-of-two admitted she used to be known by the name 'Squeak' among her classmates.

The Mirror reported the Duchess told pupils, 'Squeak' was also the name of the school's guinea pig.

'There was one called Pip and one called Squeak, so my sister was called Pip and I was Squeak,' she revealed.

Now, with current titles including Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Strathearn, Countess of Strathearn and Lady Carrickfergus, and even Princess William of Wales, we wouldn't blame her for wanting to be called 'squeak' once in a while.
