If you were to get married right this second and had to choose at least two bridesmaids to stand by your side as you marry the man/woman of your dreams, you'd probably have a pretty good idea of which friend/relative/colleague/former housemate you'd choose.
After all, what better way of showing a loved one just how much they mean to you than asking them to support you on one of the most memorable days of your life?
Well, that was our thinking, until we read that there's a bride out there who held an auction for potential bridesmaids so that they could 'bid' for a spot in her bridal party.
Narcissism much?
Her sister, who we'd quite like to give a hug to right now, shared the nightmarish story on Reddit under the username SistersBridesmaid, revealing her sister had been 'vey spoiled' growing up and although she can be sweet and caring (try your best to remember this when reading on), is a 'very immature, high maintenance person'.
With the wedding scheduled next month, the bride's sister wrote: 'She still hasn't chosen her bridesmaids. Instead, she has sent out dozens of…invitations, to various girls. It's an invite to attend and participate in a "bidding auction: on the six spots in her bridal party.
'Whichever six of all these chicks bid the most will be the bridesmaids. There's also an auction for being her maid of honour,' the sister added.
Oh, and when the sister writes the word 'auction', she literally means the bride is auctioning off bridesmaids places for money.
'My sister and her fiancé are using the money to fund the wedding and honeymoon,' she added.
Describing the auction as 'tacky' and revealing she has refused to RSVP to the wedding (good on you, girl), the sister also added her mother has taken the bride's side because, well, she's spoilt, remember?
'My sister is kind of shallow (bet you'd never have guessed, right?) and mainly only associates with rich people, or more accurately people with rich families since none of these young 20s girls have ever held a job in their life unless it's at their parents' investment firm.
'So most of the people she sent these to have the money for this kind of thing. But I know she also sent a few to older friends of hers, like from high school or earlier, who she's not only lost touch with as they got older but also were from lower income backgrounds. She has no awareness about how inappropriate it is in many ways,' she added.
Er, you can say that again.
When the sister asked the Reddit community whether they thought she was being unreasonable for taking offence to the bride's behaviour, they replied a unified 'no!'
