Ever since Meghan Markle was confirmed as being Prince Harry's girlfriend, the Suits actress has largely kept herself out of the public eye, posting much less on social media, avoiding interviews, and even closing down her much-loved blog, The Tig.

However, proving to be the good friend she is, Markle sought to break a public silence to praise her friend, world No. 1 female tennis champion Serena Williams, who is pregnant with her first child.

Contributing to a Vogue cover story on Williams, Markle explained how both the tennis star's strength and compassion as a person will be factors in what a good mum she will be.

'She will be an amazing mum. The very best, because she is so attuned to balancing strength and sensitivity,' Markle said.

The 36-year-old also added that Serena's talent for karaoke will mean she'll probably 'put her signature Serena spin on singing lullabies for the baby. I can't wait for that'.

Now that, we want to see.

Markle and Williams have been friends for a few years after playing in a charity football game together. The actress has since been spotted supporting Williams at grand slam matches and her fashion shows. She and a plus one (Prince Harry, right?) have also reportedly been invited to the upcoming nuptials of Williams and her Reddit co-founder fiancé Alexis Ohanian.

'She quickly became a confidante I would text when I was travelling, the friend I would rally around her for tennis matches and the down to earth chick I was able to grab lunch with just a couple of weeks ago in Toronto,' Markle wrote about Williams on her former blog The Tig last year.

'We're both the same age, have a penchant for hot sauces and adore fashion, but what connects us more than those things is perhaps our belief in exceeding expectations – our endless ambition.'

Now, this, is a celebrity friendship we can truly get behind.
