How does the sound of spending thousands of pounds on a slice of six-year-old cake sound to you?
Okay, granted, it sounds a bit gross, but what if we told you the cake in question belonged to Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge and wasn't just any cake, but one of the most famous royal wedding bakes in British history.
Oh, so now you're interested.
According to Yahoo, a slice of the pair's eight-tier wedding cake - a fruitcake, if you must know - designed by chef Fiona Cairns, will be auctioned off next month at Chiswick Auction House.
The desert reportedly took five weeks to complete and was the centerpiece of their reception at Buckingham Palace in April 2011.
Cairns reveals the cake was intended to communicate the 'language of flowers' - a requirement specifically requested by the Duchess - and had 17 different types of flowers with individual meanings.
She reportedly got her inspiration from the architectural features in the room such as the garlands on the walls, which were recreated on the fourth tier of the cake.
Covered in cream icing, the cake was decorated with 900 sugar-paste flowers including roses and apple blossom.
The cake will go under the auction hammer (not literally, we hope) at Chiswick Auction House on 27 September and it's yours for the bidding, if you want in.
The highest bidder will receive the slice of cake in a specially-designed cream and gold commemorative tin - the same tin that was gifted with a slice to guests at the couple's royal reception, reports The New Daily.
The tin also comes with a printed card that reads, 'With best wishes from TRH [Their Royal Highness] The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in celebration of the wedding of TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge', according to Yahoo.
However, if you want a slice of the action next month, you might want to start saving the pennies now as the guide price on the auction will start at approximately £800.
Given the fact another slice of the royals' wedding cake sold for almost £8,000 in 2014, we have a feeling the new slice might be worth the equivalent of a house deposit by now.
From the sounds of it, it's unknown whether the slice of cake is actually edible so you might be better off buying a Colin the Caterpillar cake from Tescos for now.
