From collaborating on hits such as Everything Has Changed and End Game, to celebrating the Fourth of July together at that infamous beachside bash, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran have enjoyed one of the closest and seemingly real A-list friendships since meeting for the first time in 2013.

But despite them both being in long-term relationships - Sheeran with childhood sweetheart Cherry Seaborn, and Swift with British actor Joe Alwyn - several of their fans are still convinced there might be something going on that's a little bit more than friendship.

And that's why Ed decided to confront the rumours, once and for all, during a recent interview with August Man magazine, in which he finally addressed talk of a romance between the duo via an Instagram Story.

When asked whether the 27-year-old's new single 'Dress' is about the British singer, Sheeran replied: 'I don't think it is. I think if you read into it, it's not…You know, because she mentions someone with a buzzcut hair cut, and I've never had a buzzcut hair cut.'

He's right. When you think of Ed Sheeran, that mane of glorious ginger locks is normally the first thing that springs to mind, not a buzzcut.

A closer look at Taylor's song and the lyrics read:

Flash back when you met me / Your buzzcut and my hair bleached.

Although it's yet to be confirmed who the song is about, we have a feeling Swifty might be referring to her haircut last year, when she continued to sport bleach blonde locks.

Meanwhile, her current boyfriend Alwyn had a buzzcut for his 2016 war drama Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk.

Sheeran's comments come weeks after he opened up about his friend's romance with her British boyfriend on Capital London's Breakfast Show.

'They are very much in love, they have quite a low-key relationship, which Taylor likes,' he revealed.

'It's very normal, and no one really knows about it right now. They just work out, watch movies together and invite friends over.

'Taylor loves to cook and bake for him. They are still taking it slow,' he said.
