Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have only announced their engagement last week, but that hasn't stopped us from imagining every last detail of their big day since the couple began their real-life fairytale romance last year.

We now know that the couple's wedding will take place at St George's Chapel in Windsor on a date in May 2018, and we're still keeping everything crossed that it will be televised. Just in case our invite gets lost in the post.

And now we can perhaps answer the question of whether or not Meghan Markle's father will walk his daughter down the aisle, as is tradition on the bride's big day.

Thomas Markle - who currently lives in Mexico - has told reporters that he would love to do the honour, telling The Mirror: 'Yes. I'd love to [walk Markle down the aisle].'

He added that he was 'very pleased' and 'delighted' about their engagement, but respected the pair's privacy by refusing to say anything else on the matter.

Mr Markle has kept a low-profile since Harry and the Suits star announced their engagement, although the 33-year-old royal revealed he 'sought and received the blessing' of both of Markle's parents.

And he and Doria Ragland released a joint statement in response to the news, saying: 'We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry.

'Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares her same qualities, is a great source of joy for us as parents.'

Speaking about her award-winning lighting director father - who inspired her love and passion for TV - Markle previously told Elle UK in her 2015 essay about being biracial: 'My dad was a lighting director for a soap opera and my mom was a temp at the studio.

'I like to think he was drawn to her sweet eyes and her Afro, plus their shared love of antiques.'

Meanwhile, Kensington Palace confirmed that Markle will be traveling to visit family and friends prior to her wedding next year.
