Yesterday, Justin Timberlake finally released a teaser for his upcoming album Man of the Woods, and it's everything you could expect from our favourite former *NSYNC boyband member. (Sorry, JC).

Appropriately titled 'Justin Timberlake - INTRODUCING MAN OF THE WOODS' the clip sees a moody-looking JT wandering helplessly through a frost-coated wooded area, wrapped up in a big old scarf, stroking the ripples of what appears to be a hypothermia-inducing lake, and jumping over rocks like the badass entertainer he is.

Amid the close-up shots of shrubs, aerial views of horses running through fields (because, you know, moody), at one point the 'Sexyback' singer is seen kissing his wife, Jessica Biel, on the cheek before setting a field alight.

In another shot, the shirtless star carries his two-year-old son, Silas, making it the first time his family have featured in one of his music video's.

Justin said in the teaser clip: 'This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I've written, where I'm from. And it's personal.'

Despite us having to wait over five years since Timberlake last released an album, the singer was poked fun at on social media as a result of his 'edgy' video.

One Twitter user posted a reference it the star's 2004 Super Bowl performance in which he exposed Janet Jackson's breast on stage, writing: 'Call me when Justin Timberlake walks into the woods with a big shovel and digs up an apology to Janet Jackson.'

Others accused him of previously appropriating black music and culture.

Meanwhile, other Twitter users took to mocking the star's eerie, cowboy-inspired video.

Justin will drop Man of the Woods on 2 February, two days before he's scheduled to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Will we see more checked flannel shirts and an appearance from Biel and Silas, again?

Here's hoping.
