The pair first starred together in Martin Scorsese's critically acclaimed The Wolf Of Wall Street as hedonist broker Jordan Belfort and sharp-talking New Jersey model Naomi Lapaglia.

And now, it appears the award-winning stars are set to appear in yet another blockbuster together by yet another Hollywood heavyweight director.

The Hollywood Reporter reports filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has asked Oscar-winner DiCaprio to star in his upcoming Charles Manson-based film, with rumours circulating he's also requested Robbie and Tom Cruise to join the project.

While exact plot details are being kept under wraps, the movie is reportedly being described as a 1969-set piece that involves Manson and the murder of director Roman Polanski's then pregnant actress wife, Sharon Tate.

This would mark the I,Tonya star and The Revenant actor's second film together and DiCaprio's second film with Tarantino following the success of their hit film Django Unchained in 2012.

The 27-year-old actress famously bagged her role opposite the Titanic star in Scorsese's blockbuster after going off script during her read-through with the star.

'She clinched her part in The Wolf of Wall Street during our first meeting—by hauling off and giving Leonardo DiCaprio a thunderclap of a slap on the face,' wrote Scorsese in Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People issue.

'[It was] an improvisation that stunned us all.'

However, the brave move terrified the former Neighbours star and left her fearing DiCaprio would call the police.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar in 2015, the Australian beauty said: 'In my head I was like, "You have literally 30 seconds left in this room and if you don't do something impressive nothing will ever come of it. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance, just take it".

'And so I start screaming at him and he's yelling back at me. And he's really scary. I can barely keep up.

'And he ends it saying, "You should be happy to have a husband like me. Now get over here and kiss me". So I walk up really close to his face and then I'm like, "Maybe I should kiss him. When else am I ever going to get a chance to kiss Leo DiCaprio, ever?"

'But another part of my brain clicks and I just go, Whack! I hit him in the face. And then I scream, "F**k you!" And that's not in the script at all. The room just went dead silent and I froze.'

Fortunately for Robbie, Leo and Martin both burst out laughing, with Leo even asking the actress to hit him again. And the rest is history.

Sony received the rights to the film back in 2017 with a scheduled release date on 9 August 2017 to mark the 50th anniversary of the infamous Manson murders.
