It's a big year for the royal family, and when it comes to keeping in touch about each other's news, it turns out the younger royals are just like the rest of us.

Mike Tindall, the husband of the Queen's granddaughter, Zara Tindall, has revealed that some members of the family have a WhatsApp group chat.

'Me, my brother and then a few of Zara's side like her brother Pete and the cousins are on WhatsApp groups,' Tindall told The Daily Mirror. 'I wouldn't say we're cutting edge, but it's just easier for some reason on WhatsApp. I'm in about 25,000 groups.'

He added: 'You might do it for a get-together and just stay on the group, and occasionally people will post. You're scared to leave because you don't want to be seen to be rude!'

While 'the cousins' is likely to include Mike's wife Zara along with Prince William, Prince Harry and Kate Middleton, this revelation has got us wondering - what do they discuss?

Weddings and pregnancies are two topics that are sure feature. Mike and Zara are expecting their second child later this year, with William and Kate's third child due in April. There are also two weddings in the diary. Harry and Meghan Markle will tie the knot in May and Princess Eugenie recently announced she will marry Jack Brooksbank this autumn.

'We will be going to Harry's and Eugenie's weddings – well I think so, we haven't been invited yet though,' Mike said. 'We're looking forward to them, but the big thing this year will be the new one on the way.

'That, I think, will be the most important thing to happen this year. I don't think there is too much to worry about except that. And if it goes well, we'll be happy.'

Now, all we have to do is nab a Whatsapp invite to the royal group...
