The list of reasons why we love Jennifer Lawrence just keeps getting longer. This morning we were thinking A LOT about her amazing hair; this afternoon we’re focusing our attention on the smart remarks she made on the red carpet last night that sent a clear message to all the young fans who had turned up to support her.

The Hunger Games star talked about the sexualisation of women in the public eye. She told the BBC’s Newsnight programme: ‘It is a part of the entertainment industry that sells. Sex sells, and for some disgusting reason young sex sells even more.’

It was a departure from the usual red carpet chitchat – but then, Lawrence is loved for being unpredictable. After accepting her Best Actress award for at the Oscars earlier this year she admitted she was a bit drunk during the press conference and then ordered a McDonald's Happy Meal from the red carpet.

The fact that she spoke out on the subject of sex and image was surprising – it can be tricky territory for young actresses to negotiate. But it’s only served to cement our impression that Lawrence is brilliant – a fantastic, feminist role model for women of every age.

Jennifer Lawrence, we salute you.
