Old Bengal Warehouse

The Old Bengal Warehouse on New Street is the oldest surviving East India Company warehouse in the city, and is an impressive 10,000 feet in size. The venture is going to be run over two floors and will be made up of two restaurants, the first, a delicious fish restaurant called the Fish Market, serving a speciality fish of the day and lobster cocktails at the seafood bar, then there’ll be the New Street Grill for steaks. Mixologist Milos Popovic (formerly of Claridge’s) will be heading up the team and shaking cocktails such as the Black Velvet at the Old Bengal Bar. If that’s not enough, there’ll also be a wine shop, and wine tasting at the weekends.

Address: The Old Bengal Warehouse, London, EC2; Opens: 17th September 2012

The Factory House

Just up the road on Lime Street in the middle of Leadenhall Market, is new subterranean restaurant the Factory House. Heavily inspired by the industrial age, you’ll descend the helical staircase, and feel like you’ve stepped back to the Victorian era. There are antique train station clocks at the walls, along with exposed pipe work, valves and machinery to give a real factory feel. Executive Chef Sean Davies will be serving up traditional British fare, with plenty of foraged and wild ingredients on the menu. Make sure you pull up a seat for a cocktail along the copper bar before you tuck in.

Address: 10 Lime Street, London, EC3; Opens: September 2012

Dishoom

Opening in October in arguably one of East London’s coolest postcodes on Boundary Street, is the latest venture from Dishoom. Russell Sage Studios (the design team behind the Zetter Townhouse, the Savoy Grill and The Goring – to name but a few) are the masterminds behind the interiors of its bar, cafe, dining room and outdoor courtyard. The menu will be much the same as its Covent Garden sibling, which draws on traditional Indian heritage and an all-day menu of delicious Bombay specialities.

Address: 7 Boundary Street, London, E2 7JE; Opens: October 2012

Shoreditch Town Hall

As part of the exciting renovation of the Shoreditch Town Hall, the team at the Clove Club (who include Head Chefs James Lowe and Isaac McHale and Managers Daniel Willis and Johnny Smith - all behind the success of the Ten Bells) will be behind the new as yet unnamed restaurant. It’ll have a four-course set menu featuring typically British ingredients, and a smaller a la carte menu with sharing plates. We’re banking on this being one of our new regular haunts.

Address: 380 Old Street London, London, EC1V 9LT; Opens: October 2012

Nobu Shoreditch

Ok, so this one isn’t opening until early next year, but it’s one that should certainly be on your radar. Architect Ron Arad is behind the innovative exterior design, which has a skeletal structure and seriously has to be seen to be believed. Interiors-wise the basement restaurant will be a whopping five-metres high, and will not only be the hottest eatery on the block, but also house a brand new hotel, featuring 143 uber-cool bedrooms upstairs.

Address: 10-50 Willow Street, London, EC2; Opens: 2013
