All The Drama From Coachella 2024
Celebrity sightings, surprise appearances, awkward silences: it's all going down in the Cali desert.
Ahh, Coachella. Love it or loathe it, the two, three-day weekend long festival in California always delivers on talking points. From celebrity sightings and surprise guests to sartorial triumphs (because there's more to it than flower crowns sometimes), there's never a shortage of entertaining tales, trials and tribulations from the desert festival.
This year is certainly no different. In fact, before it even kicked off, there were surprises. For 2024, Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat and Tyler, the Creator are the headline acts of the event held in Indio, which is just east of Palm Springs. Other artists on the roster include Ice Spice, Blur, Grimes, Justice, Reneé Rapp, Vampire Weekend and the much-anticipated return of Gwen Stefani's band No Doubt, which hasn't performed together since 2015.
But despite the stellar line-up, Coachella has seen its slowest ticket sales for a decade this year, which marks its 25th anniversary. It might be the price tag, which starts in the region of $499 (around £426) for a weekend, or its reputation as an overpacked, commercially saturated festival – according to insiders, it's colloquially known as the 'Influencer Olympics'.
Nevertheless, the show has gone on, and there have been some exciting appearances and sightings, as well as some slightly more unexpected surprises – from technical difficulties to muted audience responses. Billie Eilish singing with Lana Del Rey? Check. Paris Hilton playing cornhole? But of course. Read on for the sublime and the ridiculous from everyone's favourite celeb-fest...
