You might know this by now, but I LOVE lipstick. So much so that when I see a particularly interesting version of it parade, no, glow down the catwalk, I think of new-trend appropriate scenarios where I can pull it off myself. This one may be slightly tricker. The Marni lip was a two tone amalgamation of hot pink and deep plum. Two of my ultimate favourites in their own right, but blended together in the middle? We shall see.

I layered a new Topshop Matte Lip Bullet in Wine Gum over the top of my trusted MAC lipstick in Party Parrot. This is dead easy to create, (just apply in the middle only and dot with your fingers to blend) but wearing it is a little tricker. Mostly because it travels. For the first five minutes there was a nice graduation of dark to light. After three sips of coffee and one subconscious lip rub I've just mushed them into a nice shade of mid-purple. Which is all very nice but is not very Marni.

The verdict? Perfect for photo opportunities, the odd catwalk stint (pfft) or a trip to the #ELLEphotobooth. But a day in the office? Yes in theory, no in practice.
