'Love yourself' might sound like an overused expression, but it remains a very important message.

French fitness blogger Louise Aubery has dedicated her Instagram account to just that and one of her most recent posts reminded her 50,000 followers to stop being so self-critical.

Louise, who is a student at the Paris Institute of Political Studies, shared a side-by side photo on her @mybetter_self account to highlight how she sees herself compared to how others see her.

She pointed out that while others might notice her smile, her legs and her bum, she only sees 'cellulite', 'back fat' and a 'big nose'.

'As much as I preach self love and truly made some progress accepting myself, there is something I really struggle with: pictures,' she wrote in her post. 'Whenever I see a picture of me, the first things which catches my eyes are my flaws.'

Louise admitted that when looks at other people, she tends to focus on their assets, but this is something she struggles to do with herself.

So, in an effort to embrace her 'become the best version of yourself' motto, she's hoping to change that mindset, and is encouraging others to do the same.

However, as anyone who is often too hard on themselves will know, it's not always easy to shake off this negative thought process.

'In order to learn self-love and self-acceptance, there is no magical pill,' Louise told Cosmopolitan. 'Every time I catch myself despising one thing about me, I instantly replace it with something I like about myself.'

She added that fitness and sport have also played a big part in improving her self-belief. 'It has helped me realise the power of my body and what I can accomplish. It helps with confidence too, especially when you push beyond your limits,' Louise said.

'Sharing struggles with friends is also very helpful, and following the right kind of people on Instagram, in order to have real role models to look up to!'

Louise's message on self-love comes after she shared a powerful note on body confidence earlier in the summer. 'How do you feel when you are in a bikini?' she asked her followers in July. 'Because sadly, most of us do not feel comfortable at all. We are afraid people might notice this extra bit of fat. We are afraid to look lame next to the hottest girl of the beach. We are afraid not to be perfect.'

Her advice? 'Wear it proudly, rock your confidence, and shine brighter than anyone else on that f*cking beach.' That's just the kind of inspiration we need to get through 'bikini season'.
