You've no doubt flicked through instagram and come across models holding some sort of flying pose, doing the splits and sliding back and forth on a contraption that looks like some sort of torture tool. While it's not exactly torture, these machines will work muscles you never even knew you had. Reformer Pilates is like a mix between stretching and planking. It does exactly what it says on the tin, reforms your body.

When the ELLEFit Team headed to Ten Pilates to give it a go, there were a few skeptics among us. How much can pulling on a band and holding certain positions really make you sweat? A hell of a lot. In fact, during one session you can burn up to 250 calories in one session.

Using different strength bands you go through a range of motions, first focusing on arms, then legs and finishing with abs. Perhaps the most surprising thing that happens, is you shake - which is a great thing, because it means you're engaging the tiny muscles that hold your big muscles together, giving you more definition than a regular workout. 

Everything is taken slowly too, so if you never quite got on the HIIT band wagon, this class will speak to you. 

What you need: tights and a t-shirt or vest (you don't want anything that's loose), no socks needed.

Difficulty: 3/4 - depending on the strength of your bands.
