Okay, your hair may not be lazy, but when your alarm goes off sometimes the last thing you want to do is wash, blow-dry and style your hair. Dark mornings call for an extra 10 minutes snoozing, right?

So, here are our top tricks and quick easy-to-do hairstyles for disguising greasy roots and embracing bed-head texture. 

Unless your hair is super thick and unruly don’t brush. Instead use your fingers as a comb.

Marc Trinder, Art Team Director at Charles Worthington Salons, recommends you then, ‘apply shine spray to a blusher brush, stroke through your hair or on the surface to tame flyaways and to add shine’.

Joely Walker's Beauty Assistant shows you how to get this easy side plait:

For this plait you need to get plenty of texture into your hair using a texturising spray or dust – massage the product through your roots if you want volume.

Work Percy & Reed Quite Wonderfully Wavy Texturising Spray, £14 (John Lewis) through the mid-lengths and ends before lightly backbrushing - this will give you a fat, slightly dishevelled plait.

Pull the hair to one side and split into three equal sized sections before plaiting.

Secure at the end with a hair elastic. Finish by pulling at the plait to make it appear wider.

Miette is ELLE's Art Director and this hairstyle is her go-to on lazy days.

This works best if hair hasn’t been washed for 2-3 days.

Put texture in using dry shampoo (Miette loves Batiste or Redken). You want this to look dishevelled, not ‘wedding’. 

Put your hair into a ponytail at the middle of your head at the back (on the bony bit).

Pull the pony forward, then back on itself and start twisting the hair in and under as you would with a chignon.

Pin in place from the middle to the back.

Manipulate the front of the hair into desired shape and pin in place. 

Wear the Topsy-turvy Chignon with a nude eye and bright matte lip in orange or pink (red looks too retro). You can blend the same lipstick onto your cheeks as blusher.

Or try a graphic-shape winged liner and pretty pink or nude lips.
