Royal baby to share Diana birthday?

Due date could mean serendipitous arrival

With Kate Middleton’s due date now confirmed for July 2013, it is possible that the royal baby could share a birthday with Diana, Princess of Wales – its late grandmother.
Diana was born at 7:45pm on 1 July 1961. Were she still alive, and an heir to the throne to be born on 1 July 2013, she would become a grandmother on her 52nd birthday.
'I think a lot of people will be hoping and wishing that the baby will be born on the late Princess of Wales’ birthday,' said royal expert Joe Little, Managing Editor of Majesty magazine, speaking exclusively to ELLE. 'The natural progression to that is that the baby might be a girl, and therefore have Diana included in her list of names. The more sentimental of observers will definitely have their fingers crossed for that now.'

Robert Jobson, the author of William & Kate: The Love Story, agrees: ‘It is possible. It would be a good thing for both William and Harry; to turn what is usually a time of sadness into a time for celebration, something positive and happy.’

St James’ Palace announced this morning that the Duchess is due to give birth in July, with no specific date mentioned. It is now thought that when the news of the royal pregnancy was first announced Kate was around eight weeks, which would put her actual due date in mid-July.
However, if the baby comes late – which is not unusual for a first child – it might hit another memorable family date: Diana was married to Prince Charles on 29 July 1981, just a few weeks after her 20th birthday.
