The Google Zeitgeist list 2013 has just been released, offering a fascinating insight into what has gripped the nation this year.
Kim Kardashian is the most searched for celebrity, stealing the top spot from Justin Bieber. She’s closely followed by One Direction and Miley Cyrus – the latter inspiring this year’s top trending query: ‘What is twerking?’.
Most excitingly, ELLE can reveal the top ten most searched people in fashion – and given her huge social following, it’s perhaps no surprise that Cara Delevingne has come out top. Members of Cara’s London model crew, Jourdan Dunn and Georgia May Jagger, also made the list, alongside Sam Rollinson and Model of the Year, Edie Campbell.
Thanks to her prominent role in The Face, reigning super Naomi Campbell takes second place – meaning that together with Jourdan Dunn, two black models have made the top three.
The only designer to make the list is Duchess of Cambridge favourite, Alice Temperley. Former Burberry CEO, Angela Ahrendts also features, along with Topshop’s Sir Philip Green – his brand commanding one of the starriest SS14 front rows.
Google’s list of top trending fashion keywords also makes for interesting reading. At the top, that most everyday of basics, the denim shirt, while studded shoes, oversize jumpers and metallic dresses also ranked.
