'From the very beginning Kate was iconic; she never had to become a model,' said Donatella Versace of the news. 'She has the same energy, the same seduction and the same wit - infront of the camera and with everyone. I love you, Kate!'

Adds another star collaborator, Mario Testino: 'Kate Moss has made many people dream. And not only people that look at fashion but those that create it as well. The moment she puts on an outfit, it takes another identity. She adds personality to fashion and I, personally, can never get enough of her.'

Fashion critic Suzy Menkes will also win a Special Recognition Award at this year's ceremony, while it remains to be seen which of the heavyweight nominees - among them Victoria Beckham, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Christopher Kane, Tom Ford and Cara Delevingne - will emerge triumphant on the night.
