Farewell to Punk

Chaos To Couture closes at the Met

As we say farewell to the exhibition at the V&A, our friends across the pond are following suit with Punk: Chaos To Couture.

This year’s flagship exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, feted by punk-themed Met Ball, closed its doors yesterday.

An impressive 442,350 visitors have passed through its halls since it opened on 9 May, making it one of the top five most visited exhibitions at the museum in the past 25 years.

According to Fashionista, it’s up there with 2011’s Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty (which had a record-breaking 661,509 visitors), 2008’s Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy (576,000 visitors), 2001’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis show (559,902 visitors), and 2005’s homage to Chanel (463,600 visitors).
