If London Fashion Week has been a little quiet this year, then news of Queen Elizabeth II sitting front row is surely its way of going out with a bang.

Yep, you read that right - the actual Queen. Not Naomi, not Kate, not Rihanna - her majesty, the Queen of England, in all her finest glory.

The 91-year-old attended Richard Quinn's fashion show on the last day of Fashion Week.

The internet, naturally, exploded:

Her Majesty toured the Designer Showrooms to view the collections and then sat Frow for an excellent view of the runway.

ELLE spoke to the designer right after the show and despite knowing she was going to attend several days ago, Quinn said he couldn't quite believe what had just happened.

'I feel really overwhelmed actually,' he told us. 'It's kind of surreal. I knew one or two days ago, but until it actually happens you're a bit like 'oh it is real'. Its insane.'

Her Majesty presented the designer with a brand new award: the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design.

The Award, initiated in recognition of the role the fashion industry plays in society and diplomacy, will be awarded annually to an emerging British fashion designer who shows exceptional talent and originality, whilst demonstrating value to the community and/or strong sustainable policies.

'Your Majesty I know that you don't wish to be known as a fashion icon but for all of us in this room who have the utmost respect for you and also for the hard work, diligence and cultural impact you've had on the industry we know that you undoubtedly are,' says Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council (BFC).

Known for his exaggerated and exuberant prints, Quinn graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2016 and has been racking up accolades from both the industry and also celebrity fans, including Lady Gaga.

Not content with simply watching a fashion show, the Queen then dropped by the offices of Dazed & Confused magazine.

No, we can't believe our eyes either.
