Backstage, they didn’t look too terrible either. But the crystal-strewn garments and gravity-defying hair arrangements were the result of intensive styling by an army of Chanel-ites, as this exclusive video from the fittings shows.

Other things we learned from Chanel’s behind-the-couture video include:

  • Karl Lagerfeld has a Karl Lagerfeld iPhone case. Look out for his distinctive silhouette on a white iPhone case, visible when he’s snapping phone-cam looks of the models.

  • The hairpieces are comprised of two separate components. Stylists started by affixing a sweep of feathers to the side of the models’ ‘dos, then fastened a sequinned panel or camellia on top.
