J.Crew comes to London

By Alicia Waite

Preppy fashion lovers rejoice! American chain J.Crew is to open a new store in London late next year - the brand’s first store outside North America.

The 17,000 square foot space is on the corner of Regent Street and New Burlington Street in Mayfair, opposite fellow American export Anthropologie, and will contain both a men’s and women’s store.

‘London was an easy decision’ J.Crew’s chairman Millard "Mickey” Drexler said. ‘It’s a place where people understand and respect the integrity of great style and great design.’

And great design is what we’ll get, especially in the women’s shop, which will be filled with an edited selection of only the most high quality pieces from the range: special fabrics and prints, Italian cashmere and a dedicated handbag and shoe salon will make up the majority of the merchandise.

The menswear section will carry the full range, however, and there will be a special area for the brand’ popular kids’ range, Crewcuts.
